A test that asks a subject to respond to a vague stimulus. It is assumed that the subject will project his or her own expected behavior on the situation.  Such tests can be useful in situations involving the prediction of socially undesirable behavior. For example, you could ask how someone else would act in a situations in which it was easy to steal money. The question might be framed, “predict how your best friend would react in the following situation,” or “write a story about the following situation . . .”
